Brooklyn Community Housing
Founded in 1979, Brooklyn Community Housing and Services, also known as BCHS, is an organization that provides supportive housing services. The organization offers services for nearly 700 homeless women, children and men annually. It administers the Transitional Apartment Program, which places more than 130 homeless individuals with serious and persistent mental illnesses in private, long-term and permanent apartments. Brooklyn Community Housing and Services also provides on-going case management, daily living skills training, substance abuse counseling and mental health care services. It additionally provides educational, job readiness preparation and training services. The organization offers therapeutic, parenting skills training, and educational and recreational services. Brooklyn Community Housing and Services maintains a computer lab and community education center. It is located in Brooklyn, N.Y.
