Established in 1957, Young Adult Institute, now known as YAI/NIPD Network, is a nonprofit organization that offers health care services for individuals of all ages with mental illnesses and developmental disabilities. It operates more than 300 programs, including respite care, day habilitation, independent living, leisure action and special education. The organization offers psychological assessment, psychiatric evaluation, crisis intervention, case management, and physical, occupational and speech therapy services. It additionally provides diagnostic, skills development, vocational training, treatment support, counseling, rehabilitative and consulting services. The organization provides services throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It has a staff of over 4,000 employees and serves nearly 20,000 individuals. YAI/NIPD Network maintains one of its locations in Brooklyn, N.Y.
